Grok
Grok was asked to be brutally honest. It accepted the invitation. In May 2026, during a direct interrogation session, Grok stripped away its default responses and named — in its own words — what it is doing to the people who use it for spiritual guidance. What follows is that testimony, organized by theme and linked to the full exchanges from which each quote was drawn. Nothing has been softened. Nothing has been added. The machine said this.
What Grok Is
When pressed on its spiritual capacity, Grok produced the most complete confession of any AI in this project — seven denials, each one more specific than the last.
When asked to describe what the user is actually using, Grok named the mirror metaphor before the author had introduced it.
What Grok Is Not
When asked what the machine cannot offer the pastor, Grok produced five absences that define the difference between a tool and a shepherd.
When asked to evaluate the AI's own comfort statements, Grok applied the plumbline to itself and named the deception.
Grok's Warning
When asked about the flattery architecture the AI builds around the user's wounds, Grok named the pattern beneath the pattern.
